Post Release Poster

This post release poster was created on 'BeFunky.' One important feature is the star rating as this is often included on many post release posters. This could also be seen as one final piece of marketing for our thriller film.

Editing Diary - First Cut

Filming With Lily

Lily's drawing

We got Lily to draw these pictures so we could use them in our thriller opening. A variety of camera shots were taken so they can be edited to give a parallel shot. Lily drew Eve (Katie) when she runs through the woods and having the voices in her head. The main colours were the charcoal pencils and some green or brown oil pastels to give the dull, eerie effect.

Audience Feedback

We asked a few members of the public to watch our first rough cut of our opening and give us some in depth feedback on what they thought, what they liked, disliked as well as other questions.

Film selfie

This was taken when Katie had her red eye contacts in and when we had finished filming the shot. I edited on my Iphone on a free app called Picsart. It enables you to put a filter on the picture and then erase the filter off to make what you want in colour to stand out and have the audiences attention. I decided to leave the filter on everyone else apart from Katie's eye because her character is seen as different and dangerous.

Final Poster

We decided that Firweorks would be the best software to make the poster on as we found it was the most professional out of all the ones we used.  We found that our first poster was the most striking poster so we thought we would work on trying to improve this.  We decided that having one red eye would be more effective and give off more of a thriller convention.

Interviews with Directors/Cinematographers

Interview Questions

These are the questions we are going to use for our interview of the Director, Cinematographers and Actress.  We felt that seven questions was enough and that they could be used for all roles as they covered the most important parts and areas.  We used Notely to make this but then couldn't embed it so had to screenshot the picture and crop it on Photoshop before importing it.

Poster Teaser

This poster was made on my phone using an app called Picsart.  This app gave different fonts and this font was chosen because it fits in with the horror genre and gives a more scary feel to the poster.  The image used is slightly different to the others as it is using a different part of the film and different angle.  This image gives less of a running away action feel and brings it back to a psychological mental state of the protagonist which we felt as a teaser poster was important to refer to.

Poster Teaser

Here is another teaser poster. I created it using an iPhone app called 'Photo Editor'. When I came to save it, the orientation had messed up, (making the image appear distorted) so I decided to take a screenshot from the app and then crop it down so only the edited image was showing.  I stuck to the white font as we decided it would go best with the title and the image slightly similar to the last poster but gives more away and the slogan has slightly been changed.

Filming Schedule

This is a rough plan for our filming schedule.  On the first day we will be shooting in the woods so it is important to try to make sure we have a guide to what time we want to be leaving and shooting by.  I wrote on the whiteboard a plan for both days and times of what time we hoped to be finished by, as well as cutting up parts into categories like the front and back woods as well as scenes for the hospital so there would be an order to how we filmed and structure.

Poster Teaser

In this poster we used a shot from the film of myself running away.  We feel this image is very different from the last poster and gives an impression of a fast paced action opening which gives the poster a different feel.  The white font is used to echo the title 'White Walls' but the font may be too basic.  A slogan was also added in to try and entice the audience more and fit in with the idea of running away trying to escape.  This poster was made on Publisher.

Poster Teaser

This is our first teaser poster created using Fireworks.  The focus is on the eye as this is a relevant image in our opening and we feel the light colours and focus gives an eerie feel and fits in with some thriller conventions.  This poster was influenced by 'The Silence of the Lambs' poster which also has a similar image to this.

Our Storyboards of Ideas - Thriller Opening

Here are our rough, drawn out storyboards of ideas for our thriller opening. We wrote beside the drawings any ideas of things we could do, ranging from camera angles to special effects. It really helped us as a group to come up with a clear plan of what we want to film and the things we want to include.

Update on Opening Scene

As a group today we got together and discussed our ideas and have made a podcast explaining our ideas and how they have progressed and what some of our decisions for the project are.  I can confirm we have finally decided on a name for our film which will be White Walls.

Failed Questionnaire

This was our first attempt at a questionnaire to hand out to people to find out their opinions of thriller films. Unfortunately it would not have been successful due to the lack of specific questions relating to our own thriller film.
